ABE

Adult Basic Education (ABE) classes focus curriculum on improving your reading, writing and math skills. Each class is taught through direct instruction from a credentialed teacher. The highly focused nine-week sessions will prepare you to transition to the GED preparation or high school diploma classes, whichever meets your educational goal. Students should register at the 7th Street campus.

A pre-test will be given in the office at the time of registration to insure proper program placement. Students will attend a mandatory orientation session to outline program expectations and set educational and personal goals. Contact the office for orientation dates and time. These classes are available at no charge.

GED

The GED is a test of high school skills in the areas of writing, social studies, science, reading and math. Each student will be required to take an assessment before placement and attend an orientation session. The GED classes are organized into nine-week sessions. Students must commit to attending class at least 3 days a week for the full class period. Students should register at the 7th street campus. A GED online course is also available.

The Barron's How to Prepare for the GED Test: All New Content for the Computerized 2014 Exam is required for all GED classes. The textbook is available for purchase in the office.

The Chaffey Adult School is an official Pearson Vue Testing Center. Registration must be made in advance of testing dates at https://GED.com The test is available in English and Spanish. Currently our test center is open on Tuesdays: 9:00 AM - 12:15 PM and 1:15 PM - 3:15 PM. Click here for GED Testing Schedule.

The fee for each GED exam is $35.00 or $140.00 for all four exams. Fees must be paid online with credit card (or bank deficit card). Re-take exams are the same price $35.00 per exam. Check https://GED.com for any current promotions or discounts on GED exams and re-takes.

Requirements for Testing: Must be 18 years of age and present a valid government issued, photo ID (i.e. California identification card, driver's license, passport). If your ID is not issued by the State of California, you must also bring in proof of California residency on the day of your exam. See California Department of Education for current list of accepted proofs of residency at http://www.gedtestingservice.com/testers/policy_ca . Accepted proof of residency include any one of the following along with a valid & current photo ID: bank statement, utility bill, marriage license, vehicle registration. Questions regarding students under 18 or accommodations should be directed to the Pearson Vue Examiner at the 7th street campus.
